Yes We Did!

The nightmare of the past eight years is over! It seems that the entire world is breathing a sigh of relief at the election of Barack Hussein Obama. I feel proud to be an American (again). Miriam said his speech was awesome and I'm so glad she listened to it. Sometimes it's hard to know how interested the kids are. Now I have hope for her future!

The Kid Votes

Who says the youth don't vote? Here's my girl...

That's one of the reasons why she'll get some awesome socks(the Mock Cable Rib out of the STR "Fire on the Mountain").  I had to frog the first one last night after I tried it on before the heel flap.  Waaaay too big, so I cast on 56 instead of the 64 recommended and it all is going so much better.

Just two more days.

Passover Prep = Less Time to Knit

First post, in the middle of Passover prep. We're having 12 over for the first night Seder, always collecting the strays and making it haimish. For the husband (Rob) it is all about the food (when do we eat?). Since he loves to cook he does the major prep like the brisket and chicken soup, I get to be sous chef (matzoh balls -FLOATERS-, charoset) cooking what I like when he has left the kitchen (Elvis has left the building).

I didn't want to use the silver candlesticks because I didn't want to polish them, so I decided to use the brass ones that Rob's grandmother brought over to the US from Russia, escaping the pogroms. I ended up polishing those instead (it would have been easier to use the silver!), and as I was polishing I thought about his grandmother's escape, and about my parents' escapes from Hitler and how these are all the Exodus' we are still living and celebrating. L'dor v'dor, from generation to generation.

So, all this means that I have less time to knit! On the needles:

Karen Alfke's topdown cable sweater
Socks (another Karen Alfke pattern using Socks That Rock)
A sweater for Rob
A hat for Miriam (daughter)

some other stuff I can't even think about...
